Vacation - Day 1

Gettysburg, PA - November 10, 2009

Welford and I had not been to Gettysburg since we were kids, and wanted to go. The neatest part of touring the fields was that each regime put up flank markers to show where they were positioned. Right and Left flank markers... so you could visualize the troops standing right there in formation. Amazing. And it was also the first time we learned that the regimes came back and placed their own monuments so that what they did and what took place would never be forgotten.

Abby was thrilled to be touring the battlegrounds.

Having fun with Daddy at the eternal flame.

Lunch pit stop in the visitor center parking lot - a very fun family moment!

Although we didn't get as much time as we would have liked in the visitor center/museum, we did watch the video and see the 360 degree painting. Amazing. Going through the 3 days on the driving tour was unreal.

If you ever go, we suggest a 2 day visit... or at least one full day. With Abby's timing, we were only there for about 5 hours. Definitely NOT enough time to do/see everything. The new museum is awesome.
