Well, here we are in Week 32 of our pregnancy! About 8 weeks to go! Daily I am seeing changes, most times feeling them! “Whoosit” still does not have a middle name… yikes we need to hop on that. But we have a good time calling her by her first name, and it makes us realize even more that there is a little person growing inside of me. A second soul contained within. Amazing. Absolutely amazing to think about.
“Whoosit” loves to move around and I’ve come to appreciate her subtle movements when they occur. The punches and jabs I could definitely live without… especially the ones in my right rib cage… this is where her feet reside most of the time! Yesterday was the first time I have actually felt her with my hand (aside from the jabs)… “Whoosit” was moving near my right rib cage (yet again) so I had my hand on my stomach to help absorb the shocks. All of a sudden, I felt a small marble like projection roll outward, across my hand, then back down. A foot or heel I imagine. (Even as I write this, “Whoosit” is busy kicking my right rib cage. Oh, does she ever have a still moment?) It was the neatest experience so far. I told Welford I could just imagine her stretching out her little leg and slowly folding it back up. During our ultrasound her legs were fairly straight and we saw her stretch out often. I don’t know what she has against my right ribs, or what they are doing to her by restricting her space, but when she is born I will see to it that she is at peace with my ribcage! :)
She does well during the nights, and hasn’t woken me up in some time now. This morning she woke up with the alarm and started to move around. Welford hit the snooze button for 9 more minutes. I rolled to face him, grabbed his hand and placed it on my belly. After thinking Welford had fallen back asleep, “Whoosit” gave a quick little kick, and Welford chuckled. It warmed my heart, and I thought how wonderful it will be when she makes her appearance and we have a face to put with the movements and name.
How God blesses us through children, even those still in the womb.
